My fuel pump was replaced 2001 Suburban, and now the codes

Customer Question

Hi, my fuel pump was replaced for a 2001 Suburban, and now the codes for 420 and 430 show up, and the mechanic stated the catalytic converter needs to be replaced because the faulty fuel pump allowed gasoline to get into the catalytic converter. Will this burn off over time, or is the damage done once fuel contaminants the converter?

I am sorry your having this problem

with both those codes the cat converter assembly needs to be replaced

the old defective fuel pump yes could have caused this issue and the fuel will not burn out the catalyst inside the converter is bad or melted and not working anymore and that is why you have the codes as the computer is picking up the cat is not operating correctly

the only way to get rid of those 2 codes is by replacing the cat
