You almost certainly have a faulty wheel speed sensor, which is causing the ABS computer to assume that you have wheel slip, and it's engaging traction control. It is most likely one of the front sensors, since historically those are the ones we replace most often. Even if you can't duplicate it for the mechanic, he should be able to graph these sensors on the scan tool or preferably a lab scope, and pick out the weak sensor and replace it for you.
