It appears the oil sending unit went out. Fortunately I wasn’t driving.

Mechanic's Assistant: When was your last oil change?

It’s an 05 Yukon xl with almost 360k miles. It had jus recently been done. Low oil pressure warning given at start up one morning.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Yukon XL yourself? What have you tried so far?

I thought my earlier message went through. My husband changes the oil. The earlier years, all at the dealership.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Yes, I didn’t drive it when I got that warning. The engine has not seized.

Ask Your Own GM Question

has he tried replacing the sending unit? is the oil level ok? has he done an oil pressure test?

The oil level is fine. No, he’s not a mechanic. My actual mechanic was telling me I need a new engine. Another person told me to just fix the specific problem if that’s all it was. I got. New car last weekend, but I refuse to just let my truck go. She’s still a beauty and drives fine. I drove it into the garage after having it towed to and from the mechanic after this issue began.

ok, well if the engine can be manually rotated without interference then it's not seized, in that case, you need to have an oil pressure test done on it.
