I am replacing the transfer case motor on my 2004 GMC

Customer Question

Hi Pearl, I am replacing the transfer case motor on my 2004 GMC Sierra. The shaft gears and the transfer case motor housing are not lining up. I tried to simply plug in the transfer case motor and set it to what I thought the shaft was set to, it moved it, but not to the correct position.
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: I think the transmission is 10 years old
JA: What is the model of your '04 GM?
Customer: Sierra Z71 4.8 L
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I included this in the message already, just trying to figure out how to align the shaft with the tranfer case motor for correct installation.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: I don't think so.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the GM Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.
