Changed trans filter on GMC Canyon (2008), now it does not

Customer Question

changed trans filter on GMC Canyon (2008), now it does not move in drive or reverse.
JA: How many miles are on the car? How has your mileage been lately?
Customer: 100,000 miles, mileage good
JA: Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: added 3 quarts of fluid after trans filter change. Ran truck but fluid level hard to read, over-fill maybe?
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: yes
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: Tried to drain some of the fluid, but still can't get a good reading. It still shows over the fill line
JA: Is there anything else the GM Mechanic should be aware of about your GM?
Customer: Should fluid level stop at recommended line, or does fluid splash up the dipstick?
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the GM Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

sounds like the filter is not locked in causing it not to suck the fluid up...I would drop the pan and double check
