is this carb or fuel injected ?

will it bog down ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Carb and yes bad
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

do you know what the fuel pressure is reading when its bogging down ?

is it @ 3 to 6 ish ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Umm idk how do I tell what psi if I don't have a fuel pressure regulator
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

you need to add a T to the fuel line going into the car and drive it

if the fuel pressure is good and the compression in the engine is good then this issue is down to a plugged cat converter or a carb internal issue or the distributor itself being the issue

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
What is a T
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Honestly I think it's the carb because everything is new. It's a edelbrock carb. And I have a 1978 gmc 3500 with a crate 454. But anyways the carb looks like it has leaks
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

you T into the fuel line by adding a fuel line for a gauge to test with

when these bogg down its running out of fuel or the internal of the carb is causing this

make sure the compression is good in the engine also

Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

does it still have a cat convertor on it ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it was a federal truck I guess is what the guy said when I got exhaust put on the other day
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

ok if no cat than its running out of fuel or the distributor or carb is bad

but check the compression first

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
K I'm doing new cap rotor wires and plugs in the morning then I'll let you know
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

see if that helps at all

Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

but usually when they bogg down or choke out they are lacking fuel

Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

how are you making out ?

it's still doing it but at a lower rpm now around 3-400 the idle is at around 5-600. Also I put new fuel line from the tank up to engine new sending unit and fuel pump filter and also a inline electronic Fuel pump to make sure it's getting gas...
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

is the distributor in good shape internally ?

is the compression good in all 8 cylinders ?
