Hello I will help you with your question,

To set the timing you will need a scantool to set the cam/crank offset.

To install the distributor you mark where #1 plug wire terminal on the cap on the body of the distributor, roll the engine over to #1 compression stroke TDC (pull the spark plug a feel for the compression) and set it on the timing mark on the balancer at 0.

Once you have the engine set drop the distributor into place so the rotor tip is pointing to the mark you made on the body and snug it down then install the cap.

Install the scantool that is capable of showing the cam/crank offset and adjust the distributor position so the offset is less than 2 degrees. Each time you move the distributor you need to increase the engine speed above 1500 rpm for a second to update the reading.

Let me know how I can help you with this

Thank you
