finding out key does open the back door

Ok so this is an electrical issue. First you nee to check the connetions to the door. This may have wires or simply contacts that the door hits. If this is the case, use a light sand paper to clean the pins and the pad off and see what happens.
If there is a boot with wires, pull it back from the body and check the wires inside.

IF that is fine then you need to test the actuator inside the door. It is best to use a test light in place of the actuator and see if the light comes on when you use the rear button.
