2004 GMC: driver side and cold air on passenger side..common problem…

Customer Question
I have a 2004 GMC...
I have a 2004 GMC sierra with dual temp control . It blows hot air on driver side and cold air on passenger side when A/C is on . I know this is a common problem . I did the disconnect batt trick but didnt work . Was wondering what parts i need to buy or if there was another trick i could do before tearing into the dash since i am sure it will be a all day project . Thanks

No i havent checked that & how do i do that . Also forgot to to add when i am at a light or the truck is just sitting the air isnt as cool until i take off and also with the key on and the control off you can still hear like a motor running under the dash . Dont remember what that is called but also heard that was common as well . Just frustrated cause already replace that resistor so i would have more then just 4 and 5 that blows the air out which u have to tear the bottom out since GM thought it be a good idea to make more then just 1 for the truck .

Greetings and Welcome to Just answer.

Your question will be sent to the GMC category where a verified GMC expert will assist you. Also I see you are waiting and your expert is offline so I will be that GMC expert.

This is a very common issue. THe fault is with the temperature door actuator. On these vehicles, it is the easy one to change. It is under the center of the dash, towards the right side of the transmission hump. This is something that can be easily changed. HERE Are instructions.

It should take you 30 mins.

If it was the passengers side it would be an all day job.
