The oil pump is located on the crankshaft, the balancer when installed drives the oil pump. If you removed the oil pump or moved it when the front cover was off, you may have moved the sealing o-ring on the oil pump pick-up tube. make sure the balancer is torqued down properly. if the balancer is torqued down, you may have to remove the front cover and check the oil pick-up tube to make sure the o-ring is in place.

Installation Procedure

Object Number: 64281 Size: SH
  1. Align the splined surfaces of the crankshaft sprocket and the oil pump drive gear and install the oil pump.
  2. Install the oil pump onto the crankshaft sprocket until the pump housing contacts the face of the engine block.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
