You used both words "House" and "Apartment" and here those are two very different things. Having an apartment here, the living space is not yours, it belongs to the owner and we make rental payments to him/her each month to keep the apartment.

A home is different in that it is either owned by you or you are making payments on a mortgage to pay it off until you own the home, usually 20 to 30 years.

I'm hoping you are talking about a home, but if your second boyfriend dies you will still need to make payments on the mortgage if there is still money to pay, an apartment will require monthly payments. Do you see what I mean?

You need a lawyer to write up a legal document stating everything you want it to say. Then have it notarized.

But your fiancee needs to have a will written up expressing the same.

And in order to have extra cash to pay off a house, your fiancee needs to take out a life insurance policy on himself so in the event of death, you will get that money. Life insurance can be any amount from $10,000 to a million or more dollars. But if you are not married by the time he dies, then it needs to be written in his will and your legal document that his life insurance money goes to you.
