I was invited to go on a trip to england w/ my step sister…

I was invited to...

I was invited to go on a trip to england w/ my step sister which she paid for, I paid for my way to California from florida and missed a weeks pay to go to england w/ her for support as she did not want to go alone w/ her sons soccer team (husband had to work) . She was miserable and very callus and short/distant and down right mean to me the whole time. She didn't really even socialize w/ me and told me not to speak to other persons on the tour. I was a nervous wreck and traumatized by her actions and it didn't get better , when we arrived back to the states she yelled at me and told me not to speak to the driver of the car (3 hour drive) all the way back to her home, because she had a falling out w/ the driver. When we returned to her home , she did not speak to me and cut my visit short by getting another ticket home for me (which was fine) and her and her husband told me to find a car to the airport . She did not even say good bye to me when I left and made herself not home when I was picked up. My question is : I do not think that I should send a thank you card / note for the trip to england and I am not sure what to do. How would you handle this ? thank you. L.

Good afternoon,

I wanted to say that I hope you had a great trip to England but from what you have written that this was easily not the case.

Instead of enjoying what should be a wonderful time, you had company that was less than enjoyable.

As not knowing more about the step sister as wondering if this is something that she often does in terms of being around people or if this is something that she might be dealing with family wise. Problems with her husband/son perhaps.

My thought of sending a thank you card is that you can show to be the adult in the room as being professional. Sending a short but concise note to just say thank you for being invited along shows that you are the better person in this situation.

I would hope that when the step sister reads the thank you note that she will see the error in her ways about how she acted and can improve. Then you will know you did a good thing to help her.
