Virtual phone numbers for Airbnb This question is for

Ok, this is absurd but I have been reading tons of forums regarding AirBnb and apparently they will not accept phone numbers from ANY of those virtual phone services. They won't even accept phone numbers from some of the major cell phone networks. People from a variety of countries, including the U.S., have been experiencing trouble with AirBnb saying they don't support their number. Some of these people are using their regular cell phone number, not a virtual phone service, and they STILL are being rejected. I don't know if they accept Verizon phone numbers now, but in 2017 they weren't even accepting mobile numbers in the Verizon network (or at least some Verizon numbers were being rejected). Someone posted screen shots of a conversation with an AirBnb rep who was suggesting that this person switch from Verizon to AT&T to see if that would help. It's ridiculous! To suggest that someone change networks is absurd. I honestly can't even believe the things I am reading about this phone issue. You are definitely not the only person having this problem. Here is what I found out:

• AirBnb does not support ANY phone numbers that are part of a network that leases radio frequencies from bigger operators (that means no virtual phone service numbers, and some regular mobile numbers will not work as well depending on the carrier and their leasing practices)
• Land lines are the only phone number that is guaranteed to work, so many people have gotten land lines to use for AirBnb and then they have the calls to their land line forwarded to their regular cell phone. While getting a land line is an added expense, so is a virtual phone service, so getting a land line and forwarding the calls might be the best option.
