I found a website that lists all of the conferences, symposiums, and summits happening in Chicago. There are several happening on or around the dates that you listed. An additional one that wasn't mentioned for some reason is the Social Venture Partners (SVP) Global Summit, which runs April 26-28. I am assuming that the dates you mentioned are more expensive because of the events I listed for those dates in my last reply. When I research why hotel rates are more expensive in Chicago on those dates, it just brings up events that are on those dates, implying that hotels are raising the rates because they know that more tourists will be in town. I also found several articles that stated that one of the main factors in determining room rates is special events happening in the area. Hotels pay attention to when special events will be happening that will attract more tourists or out-of-town guests, such as concerts and business conferences, and they use that information to their advantage to inflate rates for those dates. For example, April 26 Bon Jovi is playing at the United Center. Bon Jovi is a hugely popular artist and his concerts are booked months in advance; hotels use that information to raise rates, knowing that a large number of people will be coming from out of town to attend the concert and will need a place to stay. The SVP Global Summit is also running that weekend, so hundreds of people will need accommodations for that as well. The two links I sent you for Chicago conferences and Chicago special events should help you match up dates with higher rates and the events that are causing them. ** American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual convention runs June 1-5. I have heard this is a huge convention with many people coming from out of town, most arriving on May 31 since convention begins the morning of June 1.
