My wife has a Singer XL5000 that she has never really used

Customer Question

Hello, My wife has a Singer XL5000 that she has never really used (we bought it new). We have moved a few times but it was packed back in the original shipping box like it was new. We took it out so she could use it and the Thread Exchanger starts going upon turning it on. It is just seems to be in an endless loop. Any ideas what this would be?
Thank you

Where is the looping portion above or underneath the fabric?

Have you try to re-seat the bobbin case and bobbin. make sure it lock firmly.

can I send a short video of what it is doing? I will try that now.

It will thread the needle but as soon as you turn in on it starts running making noise. If I put the Thread Exchanger on it will flip the bales up and down. Nothing will stop this from running. Like I said the machine was never really used I still have the receipt from 2004 when i bought it for my wife new.

The endless loop is the noise it makes it is trying to run the thread exchanger when it is not even on. If I put it on the thread exchanger and turn it on it does the same noise but will run the bails of the thread exchanger up and down.

Upon powering on it should not do anything until you push a command button.

Here is a link to a video of it running from start up.
