Customer Question

My Bernina 830 has a problem. I believe that the dual feed sensor needs to be recalibrated. I live in the country and do not have an authorised dealer who is trained to do this and cannot take my machine to a technician. When I attach the embroidery module an error message comes up to say that the dual feed foot is down, but it is not down. I have moved this foot up and down several times, restarted the machine and reset all the factory settings. This problem will not go away and I cannot use the embroidery function of my machine. The sewing functions work well.

Hi there,

The hoop should be calibrated regularly.

Page 2 in the 'Embroidery' Setup program lists the hoops for calibration. Attach the desired hoop including template. Then use the arrows to centre the needle. After correct centring, confirm the position to save the changes.Refer to 'Setup Program/Embroidery Settings/Screen Calibration' chapter in the user manual.

Hello, My problem is with the dual feed sensor and not the hoop. I calibrate the hoop regularly but this has not had any influence on the dual feed sensor which says my dual feed foot is down when it is not. I have cleaned the sensor area just in case there is fluff or dust. Unfortunately not made any difference. I have been told that I have to recalibrate the dual feed sensor and do not know how to do it. Bernina tells me I have to take to large dealer as they have special codes to do this? Can you help me? Thanks

You can only calibrate the hoop yourself.

If the dual feed sensor is faulty or needs calibrating, then it has to be done at a service centre using their specialist equipment.

In circumstances like this, the machine is normally couriered to the service centre so that they can work on it.

I knew this was the case but was hoping that there was someone who could help me remedy this problem without having to send the machine 500km away and the associated risks and costs.
