My janome 3160 QDC isn't stitching properly! It won't zigzag.

Customer Question

My janome 3160 QDC isn't stitching properly! It won't zigzag. I've got it now so it will do a straight stitch but it wasn't doing that for a while either. I've taken it apart to clean it (3 times), rethreaded it about 10 times, I've oiled the piece the needle attaches to (that goes up and down), changed the thread and needle. Any more suggestions? It seems like a bobbin problem?? Thank-you!

Hi and welcome to Just answer.

This problem happen when the machine sitting for long time or the zigzag function is not use for long time.

You need a aerosol lubricant (for sewing machine) do not use wd40. Remove your face plate, look at the bushing that connects to the needle bar, use aerosol and spray all bushing and other moving mechanism inside (do not over spray).

After that try to test it, remove the needle and set your machine to the widest setting and try to sew. If still, try to use hair blower inside of face plate. This is to melt all possible sticky old lubes on mechanism.

Hope this information will be helpful.
