how soon after planting year old raspberry and blackberry canes

This answer was rated:

how soon after planting year old raspberry and blackberry canes do I prune them back
Hello and welcome. If you bought them in the spring, you can cut any wood that produced fruit this year. I cut them in the fall. Some raspberry variety produce fruits on wood from the last year (so you must not cut it) and some produce fruits from the wood of the same year (so you can cut it all to the ground).

If you are in doubt of the type (remontant or non-remontant) you have, just skip pruning this year.
