Hello,

Thanks for using Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do whatever I can to help you.

Firebush (Hamelia patens) usually isn't fussy about its environment, but one thing it doesn't like is too much water. When getting it established (i.e. the first year after planting), you need to water once a week if it doesn't rain. After it is established, water only when the soil feels dry about 1-2 inches down. It's a shrub that thrives on hot sun, although it will tolerate partial shade.

Please let me know if you have questions.

All the best,

Schuyler
