What is the interstate rate for moving per pound from NH to MA. The area code I will be moving from is 03079 (Salem, NH) to 01460 (Littleton, MA). I want to know the just the Federal regulated flat rate that does not include special handling or insurence etc...
Hello, Thank you for using this service. I wish to introduce myself. I am a Research Librarian with 20+ years of experience.

A reputable mover uses a rate book published by the Household Goods Carriers Bureau. The book is titled "Tariff 400-M" and it provides estimates for all long-distance moving based on the weight of your personal items and on the distance they are shipped, plus the amount of packing and other services that you require.

The average moving rate per state differs but my research shows the average charge for moving runs of $100 per hour for local moves and $0.40 to $0.60 per pound for long distance moves.

Start by using a moving calculator to plug in exactly what you wish to move and then use these numbers to work with the desired moving company to get the price you feel is right.

Does the rate vary for distance, and whether it is commercial or residential?

From my research, moving rates differ with many companies you contact. Commercial moves are much more elaborate as they can for example move large offices with bigger items to transport. Residential moving rates should be shopped around to find the best rate as long distance moves varies by the amount of items/weight that you are moving and the distance between origin and final destination.

A good way to start looking for rates using the site from the American Moving Association. They offer detailed information on moving rates and how much your move can cost:

Interstate transportation is federally regulateded and the rates are fixxed by mile. I need someone who can answer this question. Thanks for trying but yuor answer is not enough. I need a specific answer, such as: from zip 03079 to 01460 its going to be $0.54 per pound.

Thanks anyway for trying. I want to ask another expert.
