This is a tough situation. However, you are not selfish and childish. I do believe your husband should be the one to talk to his son. It's not your obligation to do so. Did you explain to him that he should be discussing this issue with his son?

I would explain to your husband the his son is his immediate family and his needs to work it out with him and that it's not your place. I don't necessarily think it's too late but it's not your responsibility. If you would like to be involved, there's nothing wrong if you would like to discuss the situation but it's also ok if you would like to be left out of it too.

I would just say calmly to your husband that if he wants a relationship with his son, he will have to be the one to speak with him. By calling you names is just making two relationships go sour. I think family counseling would be helpful to your husband and his son, not that they would go but I do believe they could work it out.
That's really too bad about the child not having a father around. That also has to be something the son needs to deal with and is also not your responsibility. If the Ex girl partner or son wants to bring the child to his parents house, then I think it's a nice gesture and you may enjoy the connection, but by all means, it's not your responsibility to go there.
Your husband and son need to make the first step in this relationship. Don't worry, you are doing the right thing.
