Serned in the UA Navy during WWII and married Anna Marie (maiden name unknown ) about 1949.

Albert died in the summer of 2007. He lived on Linwood Ave in Dover NJ for most of his life.

Their daugthter is Patty ( Patricia ) and is still living.

DOVER -- Albert Edwards Mathews died on Monday, July 9, 2007 at home in Dover, following a short illness. He was 84.

He was a lifelong resident of Dover.

He was a supervisor with the Postal Service in Dover, having retired in 1980 after 37 years. After retiring from the postal service he worked for 10 years for United Jersey Bank in Dover.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He competed in the Allied Track and Field Championship in 1945 during his military service. His events were the high hurdles and high jump.

He was a member of the First Memorial Presbyterian Church, 51 W. Blackwell Street, Dover.

Mr. Mathews is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Marie (Boyer) Mathews; his daughter, XXXXX XXXXX and her husband, Joseph of Landing; and three grandchildren, Meredith, Patrick and Amanda.

A memorial service will be held at First Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dover on Saturday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Dover Volunteer Fire Department and Dover Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 798, Dover, N.J. 07802. Arrangements are with Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10, Randolph, N.J. 07869.
