I'm trying to find out how many children my Great Grand father had & maybe their names. My G.G. father was William Franklin Wilcox Born in(1881)altho a picture of a headstone had , born 1858 so am hoping this is the same Wilcox. Born in Juneau County ,WI. His Wife was Betsy D. Clark Also would like to know what the names of Williams mother & father were. Thank You, XXXXX XXXXX

Welcome back to Just Answer. No wonder you are confused. Juneau County was just full of men named William Wilcox. William F. and Betsy Clark Wilcox lived off and on in North Dakota.

1900 CENSUS - Seven Mile Creek, Juneau Co., WI

William T (should be F.) WILCOX b Dec 1859 WI

Betsy D. b Dec 1865 WI

Minnie M. b Oct 1886 ND

Mary E. b Nov 1888 ND

Jasper b Jan 1891 WI

Myrtle M. b Oct 1892 WI

Myra L. b Sep 1894 WI

Mabel G. b Nov 1896 WI

Harry b Apr 1899 WI

1910 CENSUS -Hutcheson, Rolette Co., ND

William WILCOX 52 M

Bettsy 44 F

Mira 15 F

Mable 13 F

Harry 11 M

David 8 M

Walter 5 M

Lanciel (named as Celia elsewhere) 2 F

1920 CENSUS - Hutchinson, Rolette Co., ND

William F. WILCOX 60 M

Betsy 54 F

Harry 20 M

David 17 M

Walter 14 M

Celia 12 F

1930 CENSUS -Plymouth, Juneau Co., WI

William F. WILCOX 71 M

Betsy D. 64 F

Harry 31 M

In the 1900 census, Betsy says she has borne 8 children with 7 living. So the children who lived were:

Minnie b 1886

Mary E. b 1888

Jasper b 1891

Myrtle b 1892

Myra b 1894

Mabel b 1896

Harry b 1899

David b abt 1902

Walter b abt 1905

Celia/Lucille/Lanciel b abt 1908

Since William and Betsy were married 24Dec 1881, my best guess would be that it was their firstborn who died.

William's parents were David Alonzo WILCOX (16 Jul 1834, Portage co., OH - 28 Jun 1862 Alcorn Co., MS) and Mary Elizabeth BEEDLE. They were married 27 Oct 1857 in Seven Mile Creek, Juneau Co., WI. They had only two children, William F. and and his older sister Nancy WILCOX b abt 1858.

David was killed in Mississippi in the Civil War and is buried in the National Cemetery at Corinth, MS. Mary Elizabeth m2 Ramon SEARLES in 1864.
