What is retail marketing

Retailing basically involves sales. These goods are marketed at a fixed location such as a boutique, a department store, by mail and are for use directly by the consumer (or purchaser).

A retailer can be an individual or a business and they usually purchase items from manufacturers or importers in large numbers, and then re-sell them to the end-user. We know retail establishments as shops or stores, and are the end of the 'supply chain'.

Online retailing is becoming more popular and is a newer version of retail marketing. Retailing can also include service providers, such as utility and water companies.
