However, cleaning it once every week or two, if you shoot 50-100 (or more) rounds in one session, should be sufficient. Cleaning the outer surface to remove skin oils after every use is recommended, and the frequency of cleaning also depends on the type of bullets used, the age of the firearm and frequency of use. Some people clean it after every use, others, twice a year. A clean pistol is always most accurate.
