Hi again!

y=x^2-8x+16

Graph:

graphic

From the graph, you can see the intercept is at x = 4, but we can also find it mathematically:

y=x^2-8x+16

Set y = 0 (because on the x axis, y = 0)

0 = x^2-8x+16

Let's use the quadratic formula:

where ax^2 + bx + c = 0:

x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / (2a)

x = (8 +/- sqrt((-8)^2 - 4*1*16)) / (2*1)

x = (8 +/- sqrt(64 - 64)) / (2*1)

x = (8 +/- 0) / (2*1)

x = 4

Let me know if you have any questions.
