Hello there,
You start with your own birth certificate.
Next your parents marriage certificate, this should give you the names of your parents, parents, your grandparents.
Order your parents birth certificates and their parents birth certificates.
At this stage your family should turn up in the 1940 US Federal Census.
Full US censi were taken 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940
You can trace your family back searching census returns.
