Welcome to our site and thanks for your question. My name isXXXXX and I will do whatever I can to try to help you.

Do you know where and when Michael and Bridget were married?

How certain are you that Michael was born in Co. Tyrone vs Fermanaugh or other county in Northern Ireland?

When you were checking the Irish databases, did you check for alternate spellings?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

I do not know where Michael or Bridget were or when married. As they were catholics and had their children baptised, it would have been in a catholic church. Think they would have married in 1886-7, as their first child was born in 1888.

Michael is listed on the 1901 and 1911 census records as being born in Co. Tyrone.

Spelling of names are XXXXX XXXXX census and childrens birth records.

Hello, John,

I'm sorry I wasn't online from 1:29 a.m. to 9:58 a..m. to respond to you. All researchers are independent contractors who devote as much time as they can to Just Answer, but are not online 24/7. It is also possible we are in different time zones.

Here is the marriage record for Michael and Bridget:

Michael McLaughlin, 21, bachelor, servant, address Derrylea, son of Patrick McLaughlin, labourer, married 29 May 1887 in Magheralough RC chapel, parish of Trillich, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, to Bridget McCarren, 22, spinster, daughter of Charles McCarren, farmer. Witnesses were John McBride and Bridget McArdle.

I found only one Michael McLaughlin (any spelling), son of a Patrick McLaughlin, born in Tyrone or Fermanagh 1865±20 years.

Michael MacLoghlin, born 07 Nov baptised 21 Nov 1867. Address: Abbey St., Enniskillen. Co. Fermanagh. He was the son of Patrick MacLoghlin, baker, and Mary Helfordy. The sponsors were his mother Mary and "Unknown Unknown." This was the only child recorded for Patrick MacLoghlin (any spelling) and Mary Helfordy.

Here is the list of all children born to a Patrick and Mary McLaughling (any spelling) 1865±10 years in Fermanagh or Tyrone:

Civil Birth McLoghlin Patrick 1866 Co. Tyrone

Civil Birth MacLoghlin Michael 1867 Co. Fermanagh

Church Baptism McLaughlin Patrick 1862 Co. Tyrone

Civil Birth McLaughlin Jane 1869 Co. Tyrone

Civil Birth McLaughlin Mary Catherine 1871 Co. Tyrone

Church Baptism McLoughlan Patrick 1858 Co. Tyrone

You can view the above records at which is a pay-per-view site. I'm sorry we are not allowed to purchase the records on your behalf.

One thing I did notice in the 1901 census was that Michael and Bridget had living with them a widowed mother-in-law named Elisabeth Bannon. I found it curious that Bridget's mother would use her maiden name instead of McCarron. Also in that census, Bridget was listed as being born in Co. Tyrone although her birth record clearly states she was born in Co. Fermanagh.

Please let me know if you have questions.

All the best,
