Hello,Thanks for using Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do whatever I can to try to help you.
I'm sorry but the only record of a death of a Bartholomew Cottom (any spelling) was in 1915. Here is the index listing.
Name: COTTAM, Bartholomew
Registration district: Preston County: Lancashire
Year of registration: 1915
Quarter of registration: pr-May-Jun
Age at death:66
Volume no: 8E
Page no: 670
Could this be the right person?
Thanks for getting back to me,
According to Digger Edwardian index he died in Shton in 1908. Reg no 7619. Spelling is correct. Mothers name Mary Ann Keating, father's name Jno.
Well, there is no civil listing of his death in 1908. Here is a list of all people named Cottom who died in 1908 anywhere in England.
Here are the ones named Cottam in the first part of the alphabet:
Note that there were none in Shepparton, Surrey:
Bartholomew Cottom was a convict so I presumed the Shepparton mentioned is in Victoria Australia.
I found the index listing for his death in Victoria and it was in 1908.
You can order a copy of the image from the Victoria Department of Justice. Sometimes they will include the burial information and sometimes they don't. You can search the index here: https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria
It will give you the index listing for $0.99. Each image of a death certificate costs $20.00 and each official copy costs $28.60 paid directly to the Victoria Department of Justice.
As is the usual case, there is no online information about where he was buried.
