Hello and welcome to JA....do you have a vacuum tester and a vacuum pump? We need to apply vacuum to the EGR valve to see if it's even opening.

I’ve done all the tests. The EGR is working. I’ve tested the pressure sensor and solenoid connectors and they are both getting the proper voltage. The drive test on the solenoid failed. My vacuum gauge reads zero when I give the car gas. Is it possible that the solenoid connector is getting proper voltage from the pcm but not transferring it to the solenoid? What I’m getting at could there be voltage even though the connector or it’s wires are damaged?
Ford Mechanic: davehop, Ford Technician replied 2 months ago
Okay the way it works is the solenoid always has power the PCM grounds the solenoid to apply vacuum to the EGR valve so if you have a tester that can perform an engine running test you can hook your vacuum gauge up to the vacuum line that goes to the EGR valve and you can hook your test light up to the positive battery terminal and then to the ground wire the control side of the EGR solenoid while you're running a self test with the engine running it should ground the EGR solenoid to determine whether or not it's working properly

Are you getting a ground signal from the PCM the the EGR vacuum solenoid?
