I own a 2001...

I own a 2001 Ford e 150 XLT with a 4.6 engine with 118,000 miles. Two days ago the #5 spark plug leaked. Is this engine with bad spark plug design? How would you recommend to fix this?

Mechanic's Assistant: How old are the hoses? And what driving conditions do you most often encounter?

Very light driving. It is my family van to transport my children to and from college. When you asked about hoses, which ones are you referring to?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your E150 yourself? What have you tried so far?

No. Nothing has been done yet. I live in Los Angeles and I left the van in Las Vegas where it happened. I do not know any mechanics there and one reason I am asking is to know what I am up to.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I have not have any problems with this van all this years. To be specific it is the Traveler van

Hello my name is ***** ***** engines sometimes blew the spark plugs out of the cylinder head, what happens is the spark plug works itself loose, not sure if they were not properly torqued down, then the plug starts working on the threads every combustion pulse until the pulsing finally wears the threads out in the head. The fix, what we do is repair the spark plug threads with a helicoil kit, after the repair we have never had one blow out again. It is not a costly fix, just the kit and around 3 hours labor and you are back on the road. I will look for the kit so you can see what I am talking about.
