I've recently replaced the coils and plugs on my 04 f-150 5.4. Two of the replacement plugs had to be re-replaced because the anode or bottom crossover was missing upon removal. Now, after a couple of weeks, I'm getting multiple miss-fire codes on 5,6,7,8 and a p0356 ignition coil circuit malfunction code.

Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the exact code? And have you tried to reset it?

The exact codes are p0305,p0306, p0307, p0308, p0316, p0022camshaft position timing, p2198 o2 sensor

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes, but I've consulted with a Ford Mechanic. I've only disconnected the battery for 30 seconds to possibly reset the codes.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I used after market coil packs and motorcraft plugs.

greetings,

You have codes for misfires on bank 2 (drivers side) and P0022 which is for the cam sensor bank 2. You either have a bad phaser or it jumped timing on the drivers side. To be sure we need to use an advanced scanner to see what the desired and actual cam advance is. You can remove the valve cover to look at the phaser, sometimes they go bad and you can tell by looking. The phaser can be replaced without removing the front cover if you have the special tools(can be done without if you are handy)

The PCM cannot tell if the phaser is out, that why it sets the cam sensor code. If you replace the phaser check the pin n the camshaft. they can bend and ruin the camshaft. let me know what you find.
