2002 F150, I dropped a 7mm short socket on a 2in. 1/4 extension down the #1 spark plug hole. Any ideas on how to get it out with out removing the head?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes, tried using a magnet but it wants the pull it out sideways. Ive tried move the piece so that I could get a hold either end with the magnet but cant seem to get it to slide in either direction

I have done this several times. I use compressed air to move it around and then use a shop vac on top to suck it out. never had luck with a magnet

9 dollars, 2 hours of my time, and I drove away. Your diagnosis was right on the mark. Thank you so much.
