Customer Question
I just installed new...

I just installed new brakes on my 97 f150 4x4 on the rear and a new drum the drum will not go on , it fells like it is to small by about a quarter inch. Any ideas about this problem.

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? Are these the orignial brakes?

The truck has about 150K and the brakes are original from when I got the truck in 2000 with 30k on it then

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?

I installed new shoes that I just purchased at O'realys and made sure everything was adjusted down to the lowest it can go

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

One shoe looks a little larger than the other but not enough to make such a drastic difference.

I checked the drum and it is 11" exactly I was wondering do they sell a 11.12 drum , that would be closer to what i need That would be about 11and 1/8th does that sound right.

make sure the adjuster isn't in the wrong spot.alot of folks put it on the tips of the brake shoes instead of up a bit where the grooves are perpendicular to the ground.
