98 ford ranger xlt 2.5 I bought a cylinder head its a 2.3 with thermostat bolt hole are 8mm. the thermostat holes on the cylinder head on my truck are 6mm.

If that is the only difference you can use this head. You will probably have to swap the cam sprocket from the old head to the new head, and make sure the bolts are going to line up as well as the oil journals. Take the 2.5 head gasket and set it on the 2.3 and make sure all the holes line up. If they do, then it will be fine. Just use the larger thermostat housing bolts.

everything fit except the bolt hole on the thermostat housing is 6mm and the 8mm bolt will not fit in the thermostat housing.

I would drill out the housing or get the housing from the 2.3

I guess I can't answer this question. I thought you may be able to drill it out to the larger bolt size. I see it has an insert, but I still think its doable.

Hello why are you putting the wrong head on if it's a 2.5 engine? If you purchase a thermostat housing to Match the 2.3 it should work.
