We have a 2006 mercury...
We have a 2006 mercury mountaineer with a blown transmission. And a 2005 Ford Explorer with a blown motor. We are wanting to put the transmission out of the explorer into the mountaineer. Both door stickers show that the transmission codes are the same "V". Are they interchangeable ?

Good news! Yes they are. Just remember that you'll want to make sure you don't change the modules from car to car. I doubt that you would, but it happen sometimes.

I hope you found the advise helpful:) Sean

That's great to hear, we just want to make sure that they do. We have had multiple wrecking yards and even the transmission shop tell us that they don't interchange. Everything that I have read goes along with what you said. As long as they both have transmission code "v" that they will interchange.

Yeah, the transmission code is the tell tale. If it's the same, than it's the same gearbox. Glad to have helped.
