Customer Question
No power steering....

No power steering. Message says service ps now. Just changed the battery (its been 25 below up here). Had a low tire, just brought all up to 32-35 psi. Is there a reset procedure?

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?

Lost it between errands, seems totally gone

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Ford?

2010 Flex with Eco boost engine

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Flex yourself? What have you tried so far?

Trying, just did the front brakes to get ready for inspection, changed the battery yesterday.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

FL tire was very low yesterday during this

I assume this has the Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 3 months ago

This system is self-monitoring and has the capability of setting and storing DTCs. Depending on the DTC set, the control module will enter into a "safe mode" of manual steering. In addition, the PSCM may send a request to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) module over the HS-CAN bus to display a message in the message center to alert the driver of a potential EPAS concern.

With that done said, I believe your next step would be to have the trouble codes retrieved from all of the modules.

I have to go somewhere to get the codes? Can most mechanics do this or do I have to go to a Ford dealership?
Ford Mechanic: Mike S., ASE Certified Technician replied 3 months ago

Places like autozone and/or advance auto usually retrieve them for free but any mechanic with a scan tool can read them, maybe even just a code reader but I think those codes will not be in the pcm but they could be.

You should not have to go to the dealer.

Did that answer your question? If so, kindly leave me a positive rating, so I get credit. After all, you have already made the deposit.
If you don't, the deposit you made will just sit there and I won't get my share of it.

If and when you get the code and no one has helped figure out what it is or how to trouble shoot the code/s, just come back here and tell me the codes.
