2003 f250 5.4. Engine was locked up when I bought it. Switched out with a running 5.4 from a 2003 expedition. Switched out the oil pan, intake, and other things that were different. Not getting any spark or fuel. I have tried multiple, but not all cylinders. Tried Noid light, and spark tester light. Fuel is going to the rails and has pressure. Tried the crank sensor just in case. All grounds look to be connected. Anything else to try?

Also checked for the ac volts on the plug for crank sensor and got 0. Looks to me that all grounds are connected. Could there be one in particular that is a usual suspect or a relay/fuse?

Hey how are you,I will try to help you with this issue

if you have no spark and no fuel injector pulse and ckp sensor had been changed ,then the pcm ,computer not pulsing the injectors or firing the coils ?

was all the connector on that engine matched the harness on the truck, did you have any etc connectors unplugged, not the same pins ?

do you have scanner to scan it , what are the faults showing if any ?

when you turn the switch from OFF to ON , does check engine light comes on and goes away after few seconds ?

lets start here and we go from there

Please let me know

Thank You

Checked resistance on obd ground, pin #4 and there is resistance. Checked power at pin 16 and there is power there as well. It shows 17+ volts
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Since obd isn’t working and there is power, I would assume pcm is defective. I’m not a professional so I’ll wait to hear from you.
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 4 months ago

Not getting pulse on injector or spark on coil wire. Two connectors on each side of timing cover on top. Look like ground connections. When using test light, it is very bright on the attachment portion, but on wire connectors, the light is dull
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 4 months ago

take them off, use a scrapper , and re attach them, does the dull light go away , dull light on test we have a short

is the connector internally shorted out ,where pins are touching

Dull light is back on with the 2 grounds I cleaned earlier. The other grounds that are present are
Ground on block near starter
Ground from firewall to engine on passenger side
Ground from firewall to wires on drivers side. These three are all bright
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 4 months ago

if you wiggle the wiring harness at pcm while holding the test light on these ground point on top do they go away .

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 4 months ago

other then start unplugging one connector one at a time and inspect pins and tear into the harness and see if any wires touching ,if that check engine light staying on ,that means pcm is not seeing any sensor on the engine

and that test light staying on , we have a short but where ,you have to find it and you know that might be one hour or days

for stuff like this.

I disconnected negative cable and hooked test light from negative cable to battery. Light is on meaning there is a short. I started pulling fuses and the light went out when I pulled the fuse for the battery saver relay.

pull fuse out and saver relay out completely ,check engine light goes away

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
there is no check engine light. Actually, the light is very dim with the only fuse missing being the overdrive and 4wd module relay. I put the battery saver fuse back in. With fuse #45 out, the light is almost all the way out, but that is fuse for pcm also.
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 4 months ago

correct, man i think the pcm is the issue here ,that was my first thoughts, you could have got a bad rebuild one , i know you mentioned its rebuild

Been extremely cold over in nc for past week. Came out to look at it today. Disconnected negative cable and hooked a test light to negative cable and negative battery terminal. Light is not dim but not bright and blinking. Followed clicking noise to under drivers side and behind the dash. When I would push brake pedal, the clicking would stop. I disconnected boo switch and the problem must be between the connector and the noise behind the dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Has something do do with door ajar as well. When I close the door the clicking goes away and light goes dim on test light
