Hi, my name is ***** ***** an anti theft light flashing on the dash, when you try to start it?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
no lights flashing with key on or try to crank it, take key out and the lock light with car on the lock flashes every few seconds, had key and car checked out by locksmith he said its not in theft mode and key signal is good
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, have you had codes pulled from the computer yet?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
scanner will not connect to pcm
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, then we need to check the powers and grounds at the PCM, do you have a test light or a voltmeter?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, give me a minute to bring up the wiring diagrams

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

which engine do you have in this?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago

Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Auto
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, there are 3 connectors at the computer, find the one that matches the diagram below, and check pins35 and 36 for power with the key on, and check pins10, 48 , 49 and 50 for a good ground, can you do this?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Are you sure that’s the right diagram?
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

Yes, that is the correct diagram

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

I am sorry, you are right, let me get the correct diagram,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Much better
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

sorry about that

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Grounds are good, no power to 35 and 36
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

Ok, then you need to check fuse 42 in the fuse box on the passenger side of the engine compartment,

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

did you check this fuse?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Sorry stopped to scarf down a burger, fuse is good
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

then the wire between the pcm and the fuse box is broke somewhere, you will need to trace it out to find the break, or run a new wire,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Alright I’ll get back with you in a few
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
You have the wiring diagram?
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Fuse # 40 and 42 ain’t even getting power in the fuse box
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
With the key on
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

you said it did earlier?????

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No the fuse is good but it’s not getting power
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, those fuses get power from the PCM power relay in the same fuse box, can you pull that relay and see if 2 pins have power with the key on?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
20 and #23 both have one pin hog
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Hot
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

20 and 23?? fuses?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Relays
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

you need to check the PCM power relay?? is that what you are checking?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
20 pcm#2 mini relay is power to top right pronge only, #23 pcm#1 micro relay has power to top right prong only
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
That’s truck diagram
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
87 on both relays have power
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, the 85 gets it power from the pdm power diode, but it is powered by the fuse 19 in the fuse box inside on the passenger side kick panel, can you check the fuse 19 there?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
I’ve checked those fuses already they where all good it I will recheck them again and get back with you it will probably be tomorrow morning
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

if that fuse has power in and out, then you have a bad PCM power diode, it is in the diagram above that I posted,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Fuse has power in and out, replaced diode, still no crank
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

AND DO YOU HAVE POWER AT 2 PRONGS NOW ON THE pcm RELAY?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
No only 87 has power at both relays
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

do you have have power on both sides of the diode?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Only left side of prong has power
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

where did you get the diode???

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Out of another running ford
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

if it only has power on one side, then the diode is bad, the power goes through the diode and out to the pcm relay.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Diode is good, power in and out
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

you said it only had power on one side???

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Turned diode around, now it has power coming out
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

and do you now have power at the pcm relay on 2?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
2 has power on 87 and 86 prongs now
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

what about pcm relay one?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Same both prongs have power
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, now do you have power at the 2 wires at the pcm?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Power probe Says 3.5 on 35 and 36
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, can you check the battery voltage and see where its at?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Battery is on charge now says 14
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

what is the voltage at fuse 42 with the key on?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
3.5
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
What’s next
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, then you most likely have a bad relay, put the relay in for the pcm 1 , but dont push it down all the way, just enough to make contact, then probe the 30 pin, with the key on, and see if it only has 3.5 volts, if so, and the 87 and 85 have 12 volts, then replace the relay,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
30 pin has 3.5 volts, switches it with 3 other relays and every time still tested with 3.5 volts
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

and the 85 and 87 has 12 volts???

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, then we need to check the 86 pin for a good ground, remove the relay and put your meter on OHMS, and probe the 86 pin and ground the other lead, it should say close to 0

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Both relays #86 have 12 volts, I apply ground to them they both go to 0
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

I thought you siad 85 and 87 had voltage with the relay out, and 87 and 85 did not have voltage??? so you are saying 85 has 12 volts on it, with the relay out?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Right now on both relays with key on 85 86 87 all have 12-13 volts, 30 on both have 3.5
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Relays out
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, then this is the problem, there is a hort inside the fuse box, 85 and 87 should have power with the relay out, and 85 is a ground for the relay, and 30 goes to the 42 fuse and on to the computer, if 85 has voltage, then there is a internal short in the fuse/relay box, and it will need to be replaced,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Sorry I had the pcm unplugged that I was probing
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Now both 30’s test 0 ground
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

?????

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, so with the pcm plugged in, and the relay out, do you still have power on the 86????

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
both 86 has power with both relays out and so does 85
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

and 87???

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
it does
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

so 3 terminals have power with the relays out, correct?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

ok, then you have a short inside the fuse box, 86 is suppose to be ground, not power, so the relay will not work, replace the fuse box,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
This will take a few days, I’ll get back with you after I have done this
Ford Mechanic: Tim Mohr, ASE MASTER TECH replied 4 months ago

then I will have to opt out, as I am leaving for a week tomorrow,Tim

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
It will probably be at least week before I have it
