You've got letters where there should be numbers. Can you double check the vin? There are no I's or O's only 1's and 0's.

If you jump the starter solenoid on the fender does the starter crank the motor?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Ok, then you must not be getting voltage on the S terminal of the relay when you turn the key. Are you able to test for power at the terminal with a test light?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

It should be a red/light blue wire.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
there is power going to the solenoid but no power to the key no lights no nothing
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
to what
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

What do you mean by no power to the key? I thought you were just dealing with a starter issue.

Do you have power to the fuses in the engine compartment fuse box?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
no
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Then you must be missing the feed from the positive battery cable. Check the small wires coming off the positive cable. One of them feeds the fuse box.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Actually, it comes from the fender mounted solenoid. Check to see if you may have left a wire disconnected from the solenoid.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

There should be two red wires going to the S terminal on the solenoid.

Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

That doesn't sound right. Can you send me a picture?

Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Let me correct myself. We are looking for two red wires going to the large lug on the solenoid.

Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

If you can upload a picture of the connections I can sort it out.

Customer reply replied 8 months ago
old folks cant manage this in dark. white wire is near fire wall. black next to fuse box. both big. small red wire is on top
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

On the two big terminals at the solenoid, there should be one terminal with only the wire going to the starter and the other terminal should be the battery wire and the other wires that feed the fuse box.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Check to see which big terminal has 12V going to it. That's the terminal that should have all of the wires connected. The other terminal is only the wire going to the starter.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
those are the 2 big wires. fuses do have electricity
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Which fuses?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
the fuse next to the solenoid. power module was replaced too
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

But there is no power going to the engine room fuse box fuses, is that correct?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
don't know
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
cant test now. battery is out
Ford Mechanic: Marty, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Ok, earlier you told me there wasn't power going to the fuses. I need accurate information in order to help you. Let's continue this in the morning. See if you can upload a picture of the solenoid connections and reinstall the battery and test for voltage to the fuses in the engine room fuse box.

I'll check back in the morning.
