Customer Question
CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM warning...

CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM warning comes on intermittently; pump replaced a few months ago, but problem persists (even on my way home from the dealer!). They can't identify the problem, but are suggesting we may need to replace the booster ($1,200 on top of the $3k we paid to replace the pump). It's a 2010 Hybrid Ford Escape.

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fluids recently?

It's at the dealer; I would hope they would do that as part of their trouble shooting?

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Ford?

2010

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?

Good morning, I hope you are doing great. My name is***** am a Ford technician and would be happy to assist you with this.

Does the warning come on at any specific time (during braking/acceleration)? Or is it just random?

Randomly
Ford Mechanic: Gabriel Grey, Auto Service Technician replied 8 months ago

When the warning comes on does it feel like the brakes lose power? It sounds tome more like a sensor issue than a booster issue

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
There is no apparent loss of power with the brakes. The only change is that the battery operation is no longer functioning properly.
Ford Mechanic: Gabriel Grey, Auto Service Technician replied 8 months ago

Okay if there is no difference in braking power then I do not think it is a booster issue. If the brake fluid/hydraulic system is still full and working correctly then I would lean towards a sensor/electrical malfunction. We would need to check the codes when the light sets just to be sure

Dealer says the can't duplicate the problem. I brought the vehicle to the dealer 10 days ago with the code on, and when they hooked it up to the computer, they said they needed to schedule a service appointment. It's been in since last Thursday!
Ford Mechanic: Gabriel Grey, Auto Service Technician replied 8 months ago

Oh wow, they are definitely slacking then. Do you have any other Ford dealerships close by? It might be worth going to get a second opinion

Ok. I'll wait to see what they tell me today and if it's not an easy fix, I'll try another dealer.
