My daughter cleaned the posts off yesterday, but there is still some corrosion

How old is the battery? are the battery cables tight and in good condition?

when jump starting the vehicle does it crank over normally?

I would guess battery is oem from the beginning does not crank normal when jumping acts the same as when starting with no jump

Check the engine oil level. Try turning the engine over by hand with the trans in park or neutral. You could have a starter or voltage drop issue to the starter. Check your battery cables and ground from battery. Make sure it is clean and tight.
