I have a 2000...

I have a 2000 expedition with v-10 the alt will no charge. traced the green wire to the cluster good wire no power going to the alt to excite the alt and make it charge. the orange wire has 12 volts

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?

The 12 volt is consistant

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Expedition yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes put a rebuilt alt on and traced wires

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I cked the connections at the cluster also the cluster has a guage not a light anf guage reads battery voltage when key turned on

That wire gets power from fusible link C

You mean the light green/red wire that comes from the instrument cluster?

Are you sure all of the fuses are good?

Did you check the fuse that powers up this circuit?

Ok, then either the issue is a broken wire between that fuse and instrument cluster or the instrument cluster is faulty and will need to be replaced.
