Mechanic's Assistant: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?

Turns over but doesn’t crank

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Expedition yourself? What have you tried so far?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! I apologize for the extended wait time you experienced, I've only just come online now and would like to assist you with your question.

There are quite a few things that could be causing the no start condition, especially if it's the result of extensive engine work. It's very possible that a wire was pinched or damaged during the process. It's going to require some testing to determine exactly what is wrong. If you're missing both spark and fuel then the engine controller is most likely down for whatever reason.

The engine does turn over (crank), but does not start, correct?

Thank you for the response. We did end up getting an answer earlier from someone else because we needed one as quickly as possible because of the time we have to work on the SUV. We have got it to start. There was something not plugged in well and then had to replace the fuel pump. now there is a knocking in the exhaust behind the manifold. I don’t know why there are different problems are happening to parts that use to work before the spark plug blew up which is why the heads had to be replaced. Any ideas?
Ford Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

The noise is coming from the cylinder head then?

No behind the exhaust manifold. Sorry if i was confusing. I can do that.
Ford Mechanic: sprinkles08, ASE Certified Technician replied 8 months ago

Do you mean downstream of the exhaust manifold?
