I have a 2006Lincoln LT... I am hearing a noise coming from…

Customer Question
I have a 2006Lincoln...

I have a 2006Lincoln Mark LT... I am hearing a noise coming from under the truck... a vibration when accelerating. No noise when in park. The auto*****also will not engage. I hear the click (solonoid?), but 4 wheel light doesn't come on and don't think*****in engaging!

Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?

Since the*****isn't working, I'm thinking transfer case. Been going on for 45 days or so... starting very intermittent, but becoming louder and more frequent recently.

Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Mark LT?

2006

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Mark LT yourself? What have you tried so far?

I have had the front hubs replaced and the ABS control module replaced recently, but haven't done work on this problem

Do you hear the clicking noise at higher speed or as soon as the vehicle is in motion?

Have you checked the universal joints?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
U joints are good. I am thinking transfer case / vacuum lines?
Ford Mechanic: Gunvir Singh,
 replied 10 months ago

It cannot be due to the vaccum lines. Is the abs/esp light on?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
No that was just repaired.*****light does not come on... does not go into*****
Ford Mechanic: Gunvir Singh,
 replied 10 months ago

That means there is a code present in the transfercase module. If you hear a click, that means the solenoid is trying to active bu the transfer case is not engaging.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
I do hear the click when I turn the switch
Ford Mechanic: Gunvir Singh,
 replied 10 months ago

That means its commonaded to shift in 4wd mode but it is not engaged all the way. The problem could be with the transfercase motor but the codes will need to be read to pinpoint.

There are no warning lights on... still throwing a code you think?
