I am a basic scanner not sure but it’s elm327
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 9 months ago

the most common is the PScm(power steering control module or BCM,body control module but testing is needed and capable scanner will need to bu used to run that test

you can try resetting it ,using master rest procedure if a capble scanner is not available ,that will work if it was a glitch

Master reset Procedure

1- Disconnect Battery Cables ( Negative & Positive Cables )you can use any electrical wire as an extension if battery cables don't reach .

2- Hold cables Together for 60 secs ,then let go

3- Wait 30 minutes

4- Make sure all doors are closed

5- Reconnect battery Cables

6- Lock & unlock the vehicles using the key from driver door side (if you have a key fob with no blade key, just lock & unlock using the key fob buttons)

7- Enter the vehicle and attempt to start

the basic scaner can only read engine fault codes and / or body and abs fault ,but can not have bidirectional capabilities to test

I will explain everything what happened
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
The thing was my car battery was dead during just 30 minutes on ignition and it happened the second time, so I called my friend to jump start the car we connected the positive to positive and negative to car body and waited for 5 minutes but nothing happened, we tried it 2 times but not scope
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
then my friend connected the positive to possible terminal and negative to negative terminal and then the car just started
Customer reply replied 9 months ago

No vehicle engine was ok but the steering wheel locked and vehicle was towed to my house
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
The steering is so heavy to just won’t move
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 9 months ago

ok sounds good

but did you drive after the reset ?

there is loss of communication between the pscm and the computer ,so steering wheel will feel heavy

do you have test light ,can you check all fuses ,the jump starting could have blown a fuse

fairly new car , what is mileage now

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
should I check all fuses
Customer reply replied 9 months ago
it’s about 160000KMS
Ford Mechanic: Chad Farhat, ASE Certified Technician A6 - Electrical / Electronic systems A7 Heating / Air conditioning systems replied 9 months ago

yes please do ,check fuses ,check battery for 12 volts and do reset and let me know

that is around 100k miles in the u.s and that is around the time we see pscm module go bad so that is a possibility u need pscm module if reset does not work

but run the test i sent you and u can be accurate ,if pscm or bcm is needed
