Ask Your Own Ford Question
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

Is it because vehicle is not shifting or because engine has no power?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
The engine loses power at about that speed and will almost die on a hill.
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

If you try to rev engine in park/neutral does it act like it has a rpm limiter such as not wanting to go above 3000 rpm?

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
If I rev it up it will act normal. It is only driving that there is an issue.
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

Unplug the mass airflow sensor and take for a drive, let me know if that helps.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
where is that?
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
by the air filter assembly?
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

In the air filter housing. Also check to see if check engine light comes on when first turning key to on position for bulb check. Thanks.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
no change in performance. Bulb is working.
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

Completely remove front oxygen sensor from exhaust and see if it drives better with oxygen sensor removed. If not check compression of all the cylinders and let me know what they are. Thanks.

Ask Your Own Ford Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
There are 2 oxygen sensors and I don't have the tools to take them out or check compression.
Ford Mechanic: Dan, Technician replied 1 year ago

You can buy a oxygen sensor removal tool from parts store for around $10 and compression tester for around $20. These are going to be the next steps that are going to be needed to figure out problem. Let me know how it goes, thanks.
