i've lost power to the...
i've lost power to the injectors, the diagnostic plug, etc...
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: consistent, it won't start. I suspect a fuse or relay, but i don't know which one.
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2002 F-150
JA: Are you fixing your F150 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Tried to read the fault codes, but no power to the diagnostic plug or the ECM.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

It' either the 4.6L or the 5.4l based on the belt routing diagram. Sorry, it belongs to ome of the local teens. I had to go look at it. The VIN is: 1FTRX17W32NB64108

It is the 4.6 L.

Check fuse #18 in the engine bay fuse box first. Make sure it is good and has power with the key turned on.

With the ignition on, #18 has no power. In fact I can't find 12V anywhere in that fuse block. # 18 is not blown. I ohmed it out.

I guess I didn't have my Fluke grounded. I now have 12V on both sides of #2, and #18. Still won't start, and no power to the diag. plug.

Fuse #3 in the dash fuse box is for the DLC (Data Link Connector) where the scan tool connects.

ok. I still think there is something upline from that, because the engine has no fire. The coil, injectors, fuel pump? ECM? I'll go check #3 now, BRB.

That fuse powers up the DLC. That way we can possibly test the PCM.

P0316; gen misfire.
PO356,Ingn ciol fail, primary & secondary
P0302, P0305, P0306, CYL missfire

P0302/P0305 and P0306 are miss fires on cylinders #2, #5 and #6.

P0316 you can ignore.

P0356 is coil driver failure cylinder #6. It is either the coil, wiring or the PCM.

One CYL Missfire would keep the engine from starting?

You have 3 miss fires. And when I mentioned wiring and the cause, either an damaged wire for #6 coil.

But 3 miss fires will not stop an engine from starting. Make sure there is fuel to the engine. There is a test ort on the fuel injector fuel rails on the passenger side.

Do you have power on fuse #10 in the engine bay fuse box. Also, check for power through the inertia switch under the passenger side of the dash in the passenger side foot well behind the kick panel.

10 fuse is hot. I can hear the pump kick on & off when I turn the key, After each click of the ign, there is a small squirt from the Schrader valve, but no constant flow. I'm gonna take out the filter under the driver door & check for fuel pressure. BRB.
