Customer Question

I have a rattle/squeak at low engine revs. Sounds like it's coming from pulley side.
JA: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on?
Customer: Pulley side of the engine. It happened for a few days about a year ago but then disappeared but it just started again yesterday.
JA: What is the model/year of your Ford?
Customer: 2008 tdci titanium x estate. 130k
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I haven't tried anything yet. I'm able to do little fixes but depends how sever this will be. I need to travel a long distance tomorrow so was looking for a quick fix if one exists (WD40 on pulleys?)
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Not that i can think of.

Hi my name is ***** ***** i am here to assist.

Remove the alternator belt completely and spin and test all pulleys for noise.

Start the engine without belt fitted and see if the noise has disappeared.

If the noise is still there you will have to investigate cambelt and pulleys for noise.
