The anti their code when starting headlights flash then go off truck runs but very ruff. He does not remember the code numbers

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

in order for me to help you will need to have the vehicle scanned again and write the codes down. I dont guess. Guessing doesnt fix vehicles. Data and diagnosis does.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.

P1260

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

thank you very much. give me a few minutes, thanks

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

The P1260 code can be set if the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) has determined a theft condition existed and the engine is disabled or an engine start was attempted using a non-PATS key. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is a good indicator to check the PATS for DTCs. This DTC can also be set when a new Instrument Cluster (IC), Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is installed without correctly programming either module even if the vehicle is not equipped with PATS.

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

unfortunately for this code, the only way to get the PATS system to unset is to have an IDS diagnostic tools to unlock it.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.

Were jumping it now every time it fires the headlights flash and the stops fireing

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

exactly. thats because the PATS system has it locked out of running. it need to go to a dealer

Customer: replied 6 months ago.

Ok we figured that and were trying to save some money were not rich to be able to pay that kind of money

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

i understand, believe me. maybe call around to some shop to see if they have a ford IDS.

Customer: replied 6 months ago.

So you are a ford mechanic and don't know a go around so we can get this on the trailer

Expert:  david craig replied 6 months ago.

is that an insult? there is nothing you can do to keep the vehicle started. thats what ford intended with the PATS system..works pretty good ................
